What is Stephen Ministry?

Stephen Ministry congregations equip and empower lay caregivers—called Stephen Ministers—to provide high-quality, confidential, Christ-centered care to people who are hurting.

There are three roles in the Stephen Ministry program.

  1. Stephen Leaders help recruit, train, and coordinate with Stephen Ministers and connect them with care receivers.
  2. Stephen Ministers are the laypeople providing companionship and care for those navigating a painful situation in life.
  3. Care Receivers are those open to having a Stephen Minister to support them in their time of need.
