Children’s choirs return on Wednesday, August 19. The kids will gather in the dining room at 5 pm for pizza. Rehearsal will being at 5:45 pm for Hosanna (preschool choir) and 6:15 pm for Oasis (elementary choir). When not singing, each choir will participate in other activities.
We will continue with two programs we began last year: MC² (Mission + Choir + Second Wednesday) and the monthly hymn challenge.
MC² is a Wednesday service opportunity once a month with our Oasis choir. They will take on projects like letter writing, sandwich making and stuffing backpacks.
For our hymn challenge, Oasis will be given a hymn to memorize. We will talk about the meaning of the hymn, its connection to scripture, how it correlates with the liturgical year, whom the composer is, and how to use a hymnal!
There will be small monthly prizes, and at the end of the year, those who have completed the task will receive their very own UMC Hymnal.
I can’t wait to start singing with the children in just a couple of weeks!
